Hot Dog Summer Returns!!!
Once again we are undertaking our quest for the perfect Chicago Hot Dog. This year our first stop is Poochie's in Skokie....
Poochie's is a cool place in a strip mall, staffed by wonderful people, with nice shaded outside seating provided as shelter from the hot midday sun....
We ordered hot dogs, char dogs....
....and delicious, delicious french fries....
Our rating for this excursion?

Buddy Foundation Rummage Sale
Has it been a year already??? The annual Buddy Foundation Rummage Sale is upon us once again!
The sale is run by terrific people who work for Chicagoland's not-for-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of homeless & abandoned animals.
Here you can also see our finds of the day, a nice Melmac platter, a few crochet hooks, a handful of vintage cookbooks, as well as a few old/new shirts for the girls.
So we have a chance to find 2 for $1 shirts for the girls....
....and in the process, help out those animals in need of a little love. Winners on both fronts....

Promenade of Art in Town
Another Arlington Heights summertime tradition took place this past Saturday. The Promenade of Art, spanning three blocks downtown, was filled with artists and artisans....
....a car painting tent for charity....
....a yet another chance to take a walk into town and enjoy the beautiful weather that is finally here....

Our One Year Blogoversary....
No bells and whistles needed here. I was reminded last evening that today, Monday, June 2nd, 2008 marks one year since the creation of this, our blog. What began as a summer blog, has carried on through three, and now four, more seasons.
It is something I am glad that we have done. We have kept no counters, no numbers of hits, no scores of those who have stopped by to share our blog, we just don't need it.
This blog is for our family. It is our own chronicle of the everyday events that make up our lives together. I think we will go forward for another year, and see how we feel about it at years end. So far, it's been great fun.

Public Works Open House
We have looked forward to our Public Works Open House each year since the kids were little tiny smidges. Now that they are grown...we still look forward to walking down to the newly redesigned Public Works....
....to see the big, and not so big, machines....
....to chat with local workers, old friends, as well as new friends....
....to brush up on safety and good gardening practices....
....to stroll down memory lane where face painting and balloon animals once were cherished moments....
....to grab Frisbees, chip clips, pens and pencils, and to partake of delicious snacks provided each year....
Finally, filled with cake, popcorn, soda and enormous bags of goodies, the walk home begins....
More than anything, it is just one more opportunity to carry on traditions begun long ago, and to spend more time together. Is there anything better than this?
