It's been two long years since seeing Jon perform this piece at a concert in Wisconsin. I check his website weekly to see when he will be back in this area. I can't wait to see him perform again. His talent and passion for his music are astonishing.

We woke Up This Morning to Find.......
....that Tess had her photograph appearing in our local newspaper, The Daily Herald.
This photo, taken at Sunday's Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association's 2009 Festival of Pianos, was once again held at the beautiful Northbrook Court Shopping Center. Tess is shown playing with fellow piano teacher Edie Kayne of Mundelein. They had just met that morning and played together beautifully.
Much to our surprise, we ran into a friend who was also playing at the festival with her grandmother/piano teacher. This evening, with thanks as always to my dear Robin, we found that they ALSO will be appearing in a local newspaper, The Pioneer Press, which comes out this coming Thursday.
What a wonderful way to begin our week and to end our evening!!!

Yet Another Loss....Gordon Waller of Peter & Gordon....
....died this past Friday. I had listened to Peter and Gordon throughout my teen years, buying each of their newly released albums, and playing them until they were white with wear.
Recently, I rediscovered them while watching Dave Stewart's My American Prayer video during Barack t Obama's presidential campaign. Finding Peter and Gordon performing together once again was more than I could have hoped for.
I had been following their tours dates in hopes that I would someday be lucky enough to attend one of their concerts. I will always be saddened by this missed opportunity.
I thought they were fabulous. I still do.

Disappointing News.....
Tess is out for the count for the next five weeks....a fractured...in two places...left wrist will remove her from several concerts with the Arlington Heights Community Concert Band this summer....which is the first disappointment.
Second...the upcoming concert on the 15th was to have featured her much anticipated, much worked for flute solo. Fortunately, this will be rescheduled within the fall concert series, but still.....
This also means no piano, no guitar, nor any other musical pursuits for five long weeks. To a musician, this is an eternity.
When she allows...photo of Tess' purple cast will follow. Life intrudes....

The Falconaire's - A Valentine's Day Concert
Bill and I celebrated Valentine's Day at a concert at Forest View School featuring the Falconaires, a big band orchestra. They were absolutely incredible, one the best I have ever seen.
Also featured were singers reminiscent of Patti Page, Frank Sinatra and Rosemary Clooney.
Topping off the venue were the Three Tenors....totally unexpected and completely amazing.
Bill was still under the weather with a lingering respiratory situation so we decided to postpone our planned late lunch for another day. And our kitchen table was overflowing with candy and chocolate cupcakes....a wonderful Valentine's Day for all.

More Music From the Summer Months....
Backtracking once again....
We attended yet another harp and clarinet concert compliments of the Indian Trails Public Library....
And finally getting around to posting photos of the last of the 2008 summer concert series with the Arlington Heights Community Concert Band. Well done Tess, Bill and Robin!
That should do it for now. Still to work on....182 photographs to sift through from our visit to the Skokie Sculpture Garden. After that...we are finally up to date!!!!!

Musical....and other.... Events.....
Lingering colds have found us under the weather lately. These are a few of the things we were doing before the germs attacked....
First, a stunning performance of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible". Front row seats at this incredible free event made for a memorable evening...
We began one drizzly Saturday morning by attending a re-dedication of Memorial Park, which is a few short blocks from our house. The ceremony was complete with all branches of the service presenting flags, and topped off with taps and a 21-gun salute...thus, the smoke in the photo...
Later that afternoon, we were lucky enough to have tickets (thanks Robin for saving us such great seats!) for this sold out performance of "The Andrews Sisters Revue", featuring Tres Bella and the Naperville Big Band!
Also, Mollie, Tess and I worked as volunteer ushers at a local performance of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown". The show was incredible, and many of the performers were friends from our homeschool music and arts program! We were only able to snap this sole photo before my camera batteries bit the dust. So no photos of the show itself....but we do have great memories of this talented group of performers...
Lastly, I managed to capture a few shots of Mollie at the piano...
