One of my favorite bloggers, Barb, posted a photo of one of her recent thrifting finds last night.
No surprise that I too have a set of these vintage Dominoes.
We seem to like many of the same things. Glad to be in her company!

How perfect that Mr. McFeely asks us to wear our favorite sweater on that day in honor of this wonderful, gentle man. My sweater and sneakers will be ready.

Cabin Fever - Snow - Fewer Posts to Share
Compared to summer and fall, we have so little to post about this winter. We have been indoors far too often and cabin fever is beginning to surface. We are all feeling a bit trapped.
We try to chronicle our lives on this blog, yet with so little going on, we fall short of our plan. We read, we work, play on computers, follow political debates, bake, cook, play music...still, there are a few things we have gotten to do...
Bill and Christopher attended a Grilling 101 class at the Weber Grill Restaurant in Schaumburg. This was our birthday gift to Bill this past December. They learned a good deal about grilling, and said that the food and drink were superb.
Both Tess and I are working on discovering elements about our newest cameras. My camera...formerly Tess' camera...comes with an expert instructor to teach me the ins and outs of this wonderful gift to me. Thank you again Tess! Here are just two of the photos I experimented with. The camera has quite a few more setting than my old one, so this is definitely a learning experience for me.
Tess and I also ran outside, sans coats or shoes, when the HUGE snowflakes began to fall on Monday. The snowflakes were large and fluffy, much like cottonballs....
....and out again late Monday to capture to snowfall at night. There were no cars on the road and the quiet was absolutely wonderful and incredibly peaceful....
In the end, thought we tire of the great amounts of snow we are experiencing this winter, being able to pause and photograph the snow as it happens, helps to remind us of its great beauty.

Cool Web Toy for Bloggers.....
Found a new web site today, SnapShirts that is lots of fun for fellow bloggers. It takes an existing blog URL, scans it for words within your blog, and comes up with a "word cloud" based on your blogs contents. This is what came up for my blog...
The site can imprint your "word cloud" on t-shirts or mouse pads. They also sell t-shirts and mouse pads imprinted with "word clouds" from famous authors, and a variety of well known books.
Cool huh?

Feb 24 - Saturn Will be Close and Bright!!!!!
Saturn will reach opposition on Sunday, February 24th this year. Meaning? Basically, an object is at opposition when the sun is on one side of Earth and the object, in this case Saturn, is directly on the opposite side. Just like this:
The glorious result of opposition is that Saturn will be fully illuminated by the sun and will appear to be disk-like in shape. How cool is that????
There are event watchers all around the world who await displays of such beauty. I hope that we are lucky enough to experience even a bit of this solar wonder.

Recent Happenings in Our World
The girls spent a lovely weekend with our wonderful friend Emily as their guest. We haven't seen her since this past summer...its been way too long between visits!
Some photos from Tess of their walk into town.....
The girls have been doing lots of baking lately, and we are all the happy recipients of their efforts.
Lastly, a few more photos from Tess....

Bundle Up Tonight for the Lunar Eclipse
Here in Chicagoland tonights Total Lunar Elipse should be most visible at around 9PM. If all is well, we might not only see Saturn but also Regulus which is a bright star. Look for Regulus on either side of the veiled full moon.
Since this is the last Total Lunar Eclipse until 2010, I hope we are able to see some of this. Dress warm!

Don't Bother Me...I'm Reading......
I was once a loyal reader of Stephen King novels. Unaccountably, I fell out of the rhythm of reading his books.....today I am back. I began his newest book "Duma Key" this afternoon.....an "oh-I-can't-wait-to-read-more" feast at a mere 611 pages long.
I told Bill that my next windfall will be for a comfortable reading chair, which I will place near a window....where I will sit, look out at the trees, and enjoy soft breezes, and read, and read and read....
Now then, returning to a nearly forgotten Mr.King......

A Gift for Mollie....A Family Affair
With Tess now posting her wonderful photography on her blog, it reminded me that I had forgotten to post this terrific family project from last December.
We gifted this collaborative effort to Mollie on Christmas, happy to present her with something that each of us had a hand in creating.
Tess took the original photograph.....
I began the editing process.....
Max completed his Photoshop magic, Christopher had it printed out for us, and Bill remade an estate sale frame (not shown here) to house the finished picture.
I don't know what was more fun, secretly working on this project, or finally giving it to Mollie on Christmas morning. I believe it was a project well done.
